Cherry & Vanilla Bean Granola

Granola must be universally on the mind lately.  For me, it’s a staple — something I cannot live without — and to confess, I have been known to eat it for breakfast, lunch, dinner and “bed time snack.” Two of my favorite food bloggers Béa and Nicky have just recently shared some of their favorite granola recipes that include one of my favorite food groups: chocolate.

Blood Orange Sorbet

Spring is definitely making an appearance these days, and I am grateful. I get very impatient this time of year, when I know some of you are seeing bulbs make their debut and loading your winter clothes into storage.  We’re not there yet, so it’s no wonder that after nearly five months of “winter,” I begin fantasizing about warmer climes. 

That said- it is still blood orange season! Regular oranges don’t usually excite me when it comes to cooking. They can be too overpowering, at least for anything but good juice or a quick snack. But blood oranges are in a league of their own. Not only are they the perfect blend of acid, and sweetness, they hold sentimental value for me . . . Continue reading

Rosemary Pine Nut Tart

The first time I made a version of this tart was for “friends” who didn’t like chocolate. Please, if you are really a friend, don’t tell me that. Call it my own “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. I don’t insist that every dessert be chocolate, but if it’s not chocolate, it had better be good enough to distract me from my cocoa addiction. But I digress . . . .

It’s been years since I last made a pine nut tart, and the few times I made it, I was never truly content with the result. The crust was too thick and dry, the filling was predictable, it took a long time to bake and I inevitably burned the pine nuts on top . . . .   But the idea of a pine nut tart always made me happy.
